What a fixer does

A fixer is your local knowledge on the ground: locations and recces, permits and government liaison, local contacts and talent, language and cultural translation, logistics and problem-solving. On a small documentary, news or travel shoot, a great fixer is often all the local structure you need.

What a line producer does

A line producer runs the below-the-line production: the budget, the schedule, crewing every department, equipment, insurance, contracts and the day-to-day machine that delivers the shoot on time and on budget. On a feature, TV series or commercial with a real crew, you need this layer.

Where they overlap in Sri Lanka

In service production the line often blurs — a strong local outfit provides fixing AND line producing as one service, so you do not manage two relationships. That is the efficient model for an international shoot: one local partner who scouts, permits, budgets, crews and runs the floor.
